In this role, you will maintain and repair all aspects related to Facilities and Equipment at the Bodmin Toolshop. Key skills will be electrical and mechanical knowledge associated with machine tools with sufficient experience to work independently and an aptitude for fault finding and repair. You will also help with the installation of new investments for the site and support to ensure projects meet expectations. The post holder will support the Site Managers in meeting safety, quality, cost, customer and service objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Machine tool maintenance and repair.
- Sufficient electrical & mechanical knowledge to understand the basic function of machine tools and independently fault find and repair them.
- Liaise with suppliers on service visits and diagnose specialist technical breakdowns.
- Ensure machine maintenance logs are complete and accurate, identify, report and action any foreseeable issues.
- Manage and maintain an appropriate level of common spares and parts, work with production efficiently to maximise machine uptime.
- Create and update safety maps for machine electrical cabinets.
- Read and understand technical circuit drawings with a diagnostic mindset.
- Facility equipment installation, maintenance and repair with technical knowledge to diagnose faults and repair supporting equipment.
- Ensure maintenance records are complete and accurate, identify, report and resolve any foreseeable issues that may affect production and improve efficiencies.
- Ensure distribution board markup is current and clear to understand to meet statutory requirements.

Electrical and Mechanical Qualifications:
- Electrical qualification – 18th Edition.
- Mechanical qualification NVQ 3 or above.
- Minimum of 5 years experience of industrial electrical installations.
- Minimum of 3 years of machine tool fault diagnosis and correction experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the repair of mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge and experience of electrical standards and statutory requirements.
- Knowledge & Experience of Microsoft Office suite.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years hands on working experience preferably in a maintenance role within the pharmaceutical/medical devices/manufacturing industry.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- CIEH Supervising Safely Level 3 certificate or equivalent.
- Formal supervisory training NVQ level 3.
- Experience on toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders) and measuring equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Light‑Exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently and constantly to move objects.
