Directs the Lean strategic improvement initiatives. Works in conjunction with Sr. Leadership Team and the Process Excellence team to support the overall vision and drive improvements to ensure the processes meet present and future requirements for improvements in cost, quality, delivery, growth, and flexibility to achieve facilities and corporate goals.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and training on Lean philosophies and tools to the entire organization.
- Organizes and facilitates Kaizen / RIE (Rapid Improvement Events).
- Leads cross‑functional teams in deploying lean/sigma methods of continuous improvement.
- Assures that the Lean Daily Management System© is engaged and working as intended.
- Develops and maintains meaningful lean metrics, status update reporting, and documentation of identified and implemented projects.
- Monitors and reports on all savings and Lean activities monthly using standard reporting templates.
- Facilitates the development, follow‑through and adjustment of a lean strategic plan for the site.
- Assesses and reports on plant progress to keep implementation on track.
- Leads and manages site DMAIC program.
- Works closely with other Lean Leaders to identify opportunities for best‑practice sharing between sites.
- Assures ongoing Lean and DMAIC training for all employees as required.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
- Identifies and removes barriers to success.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, operations, technical, mechanical, or industrial engineering; a degree is required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, production leadership and demonstrated operational improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Power BI and IOT experience are essential.
- Self‑motivated with excellent people, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Problem‑solving, coaching, training, relationship‑building, managing resistance, and project management skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills to motivate others.
- Proven project‑management, organization and Lean‑Six Sigma skills, applying methodologies such as FMEA, DMAIC, COPQ, and DFSS.
- Successful lean‑sigma implementation experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, safety regulations, manufacturing process automation, ISO 9000, FDA, and cGMP requirements.
- Training in Lean philosophy with practical application of Lean tools and techniques.
Certification
- Manufacturing Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods; stand on concrete floors for long duration.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lb (22 kg) occasionally, up to 20 lb (9 kg) frequently, and up to 10 lb (4 kg) constantly to move objects.
- Must work under time constraints, problem‑solve, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with interruptions.
- Must maintain confidentiality, resolve conflicts, and make independent judgments.
Other Requirements
- Work under the Plant’s Dress and Hygiene Code (SOI).
- Follow and comply with all Company and Plant policies, procedures (SOIs), rules, and State and Federal laws.
- Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
