Job Summary: In this role, you will carry out and be competent in the various production activities within your respective Department and set up/operate various machines in the manufacture of medical device components. You will demonstrate and use a proactive mindset in order to actively develop processes to increase automation and utilisation of equipment. Responsible for supporting and contributing to Lean Sigma programs and activities, whilst supporting Supervisors and Managers to meet quality, delivery and cost objectives. You would also be expected to mentor and share best practices with less experienced colleagues. You will comply with the company’s safety, environmental and quality policies at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The job holder is required to be competent in all processes within their respective Department.
  • The job holder is aware of all relevant procedures as per company policy that apply to the position.
  • Understand the scheduling list to ensure the correct components are being produced throughout the manufacturing unit.
  • You would also be expected to mentor and share best practices with less experienced colleagues and ensure that Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
  • Take a pro‑active approach to HSE.
  • Ensure Material availability at each process step.
  • Co‑ordinate resources to ensure priorities are met.
  • Communicate and action Cell Performance incl. HSE, Quality and Output.
  • Ensure Tier 0 & Tier 1 are maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure effective TPM/6S activities are completed and maintained.
  • Undertake in‑line evaluation and measurement of product within the Finishing department.
  • Carry out machine set‑ups and adjustments as required.
  • Cover breaks, absence throughout production when required.
  • Liaise with the Shift Technician to ensure any equipment faults or instances of poor quality are investigated, resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure any issues beyond their control are escalated to their Supervisor.
  • Cover for the Shift Supervisor in their absence, to include, Production data input (OEE, Daily Output Reports), lead daily LDMS meeting, attend weekly Operations meeting (when on shift).
  • Carry out Return to Work Interviews, be the responsible person on shift.
  • Carry out other duties where trained, as requested by the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree or working towards preferred.

Qualifications/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Minimum ILM Level 2 Supervisory Skills.
  • Experience of working in and operating manufacturing equipment/machinery.
  • Full knowledge of products and their functions.
  • Experienced in guiding a team.
  • Competent in written and verbal use of the English language.
  • Competent in basic numeracy.
  • Basic computer literacy.

Desirable:

  • Technical Operator apprenticeship or similar.
  • Level 3 IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in the English language.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in numeracy.
  • ECDL qualification.

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years required.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Travel Requirements: 5% of time: Up to 13 business days per year.

Physical Requirements: Heavy‑Exerting up to 100lbs/45kg of force occasionally and/or up to 50lb/22kg of force frequently, and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Requirements Competencies/ Authorities:

  • Fully trained in operating all equipment within the Production area.
  • Trained in in‑line evaluation of product.
  • Be able to organise labour and self to work effectively.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental working practices.

Shift: Monday - Friday. 3 Shift rotation - Weekly. 05.00‑13.00. 13.00‑21.00. 21.00‑05.00. With occasional overtime opportunities available where required for business needs; on Saturdays and Sundays.
