We’re looking for thoughtful, proactive individuals to join our Family Hubs team as a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner (BSIP). We currently have three opportunities available, based across our Family Hub network in Northampton, Daventry and Towcester. Each role is rooted in its local community, with a strong focus on building relationships and delivering accessible support where it is most needed.
This is an opportunity to be part of a developing, community based service focused on early support and meaningful intervention for babies, young children and their families. Working across Family Hubs and local settings, you’ll provide accessible, flexible support to children aged 0 to 5 with emerging or additional needs. Your role will centre on helping families access the right support early, building confidence, reducing escalation, and improving outcomes over time.
This is a highly visible role, grounded in everyday interactions and focused on delivering support where it’s most needed, when it matters most. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. What will you be doing?
You’ll deliver a responsive and relationship led service, supporting families through a mix of drop in sessions, group activities and direct engagement in the community. Your work will include:
- Being a consistent and approachable presence in Family Hubs, offering advice, guidance and support
- Observing and identifying emerging needs in young children through meaningful interaction with families
- Providing practical, short term support to help families take early action and access services
- Delivering and supporting inclusive sessions such as stay and play, sensory and developmental activities
- Building strong partnerships with health, early years, SEND and community services to ensure joined up support
- Supporting families to understand local services, including SEND pathways, financial support and community resources
- Working alongside families in a practical way to help them engage with the support available
Rather than long term case holding, your focus will be on early identification, timely intervention and making support easier to access and navigate.
About you
You’ll bring experience of working with young children and families, alongside a genuine motivation to make a difference early in a child’s life. We’re particularly looking for someone who:
- Is naturally observant and able to recognise when additional support may be needed
- Feels confident building trust with families and having open, supportive conversations
- Has a practical and empathetic approach, offering both guidance and hands on support where needed
- Is comfortable working across different settings and alongside a range of professionals
- Is passionate about inclusion, early intervention and improving outcomes for children
You’ll also have:
- Knowledge of child development and early identification of additional needs, including SEND
- Experience working with families in community, early years or related settings
- A relevant Level 3 qualification or above
