We have an opportunity within Obelisk House, which provides exceptional levels of support to older persons living with dementia, physical disabilities or sensory impairments. Located in a residential suburb in Northampton, the home offers a wonderful living environment in which residents can enjoy an enhanced quality of life. Our customers (Residents) are at the heart of what we do. Continuous training and support are provided to the team.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. What you will be doing:
- Work closely alongside the management and support team with the day-to-day running of the shifts.
- Manage a team of staff and take responsibility for induction training, continuous development, and performance to ensure effective use of resources in accordance with the policy and objectives for this service.
- Prioritise and direct the workload to team members, addressing issues as they arise and ensuring health, safety, and welfare of customers and employees.
- Assist the management team by providing and recording information to help amend and update care plans as customer needs change.
- Order, monitor, and administer medication to customers, ensuring prescribed drugs are used appropriately and safely.
- Provide practical, personal and emotional care and support to West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) customers with a range of health and social care needs.
- Support customers to maintain or develop social networks and interests, organising and/or participating in activities of the customer’s choice, and treating customers with kindness, respect and compassion.
- Demonstrate awareness of sensitivity and discretion in all verbal and written information (Data Protection).
- Demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
12 or 8-hour shifts are available with a mix of earlies and lates, with alternate weekend working.
About you:
You may be a senior carer stepping in to assist your manager and seeking the next permanent move, or a current Shift Lead wishing to develop further. With previous experience in care leadership, and NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care (ideal), you will join our team to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
As a senior member of staff, contribute to the overall management and development of service provision in a given geographical area, planning for future development to meet diverse customer needs. Contribute to annual resource reviews, monitor budgets, and plan for future budget needs to meet customer needs within budget constraints. Actively promote a customer voice in the provision of the service, including encouragement of self and citizen advocacy.

Additional information:
We will offer 2.5 weeks induction training and a further 2–4 weeks on a "Buddy scheme" to settle you in with no pressure to "hit the ground running". You will understand the Quality Commission (CQC) and have good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations. Your role will involve ensuring that the home provides high-quality care and support to residents.
This role does not meet the legal requirements for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. We cannot accept individuals on full-time sponsorship who are seeking this as a second job or as their main job, as care is no longer classified as a Skilled Worker occupation.
