The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

About the role

We are looking for proactive and enthusiastic individuals to join our dedicated Infrastructure team here at West Northants Council. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be the go-to expert for resolving infrastructure issues beyond the first and second-line teams. You will be crucial in maintaining and monitoring a network of 550+ VMs, Citrix, and RDS estates, ensuring smooth operations and security.

What will you be doing?

The role is a blend of BAU and projects where you’ll collaborate with the broader team to implement cutting-edge solutions and drive transformational change. In essence, you will be a technology trailblazer, leveraging your expertise in Microsoft, Cisco, and other technologies to optimise services. You will be a proactive problem-solver, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact clients. Any practical experience of cloud technologies (Azure/AWS) would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues
  • Maintaining and monitoring infrastructure
  • Collaborating on projects to implement new solutions
  • Leveraging your technical expertise to optimise services
  • Proactively identifying and addressing potential issues
  • Support, coach, and mentor the more junior members of the team, leading by example
  • Contribute with ideas and suggestions on continuous service improvement
  • Develop, produce and maintain IT documentation and follow IT procedures as required

About you

Proven experience in a 2nd or 3rd Line support role, with a desire to advance your career. Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, Teams, Azure, Citrix and VMWare. Experience with Backup/Archiving technologies. Scripting knowledge such as Powershell and an interest in automation/orchestration. You will be a strong advocate for ITIL process and Change Control. A client-centric mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional service. A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

Desirable Skills

Working with Cloud Infrastructure. Strong knowledge of Azure networking and Azure Security.
