We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways and Transport Planner who\’s starting their career in Transport Planning.
In this role you will support delivery of strategic transport plans and transport projects, helping to shape the future of transport across West Northamptonshire. Working as part of the Transport Planning team we will provide on the job training and the opportunity to develop professional skills and knowledge.

What will you be doing?
You will investigate and evaluate transport trends and best practice to support the development of transport policy and initiatives. The role will be involved with the preparation, monitoring and delivery of a range of local strategies related to the Council\’s Local Transport Plan, and assist in developing transport evidence/policies to support West Northamptonshire\’s Local Plan, and the Council\’s regeneration proposals across West Northamptonshire, including the exciting plans for Northampton town centre.
You will have the opportunity to engage in stakeholder activities with internal and external partners, develop analytical, presentation and report writing skills, all whilst working in a busy Highways Department.

About You
We are seeking a keen team player who has a genuine interest in transport (all modes) and how it relates to communities, the economy and the environment.
You should have a good level of education, preferably to degree level, and have had experience of data analysis. Ideally you will also have experience working in, or on behalf of, local government, and have good report writing and presentation skills, and be able to effectively manage your time and workload.
