About the role

West Northamptonshire Council is on the lookout for an inspiring Head of IT Strategy & Architecture to drive our digital ambitions forward. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the IT Strategy and architectural landscape for the council, working closely with key stakeholders including our Chief Information Officer to create the necessary roadmaps that support the WNC One Vision.

Sitting at the heart of our Digital, Technology & Innovation division, you\’ll take the reins of a talented team of architects and play a central role in how we design, develop and deliver modern, efficient, and impactful digital services.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you\’ll be the chief architect of our technology strategy – crafting a strategic roadmap that aligns with business needs and ensures every system and solution contributes to the bigger picture. You\’ll lead a dynamic team of Enterprise, Data and Solutions Architects, providing mentorship and direction to grow an outstanding architecture practice. You\’ll shape how we make technology decisions across the council, overseeing the design of sustainable solutions, evaluating business cases, and guiding senior leaders through complex challenges and exciting opportunities.

Whether you\’re championing innovation, advising on emerging technologies, or chairing our Architecture Review Board, you\’ll be central to how we deliver best value through technology.

About you

We\’re looking for someone with vision, energy and a passion for using technology to make a real difference. You\’ll be a strategic thinker and natural leader, confident in navigating both the technical detail and the bigger organisational picture.
