At West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), our vision is “to make West Northants a great place to live, work, visit and thrive”. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Business Support Officer to join our Adults teams and help us deliver outstanding services to our community.
Our teams work with a wide range of individuals including vulnerable adults, the elderly, people with physical, sensory or cognitive impairments, and people with mental health needs. We are the first point of contact for those in our communities and people we support. We are passionate about working with people to promote independence and dedicated to making a difference in the community.
As a Business Support Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the Northampton North and East Community team based at Olympus House in Northampton. You’ll manage data, coordinate and facilitate meetings, handle correspondence, and ensure the smooth running of administrative systems. Your work will directly support our care management teams and help improve outcomes for adults and transitioning individuals in our community.
The key point to the role is to provide accurate records and delivering essential administrative support, to ensure communication is up to date and delivered to our Adult Social Care teams in relation to each person we support.

This role is a permanent full time position (37 hours a week) based in Olympus House Northampton. The role has been identified as a fixed worker type; this means that you will be expected to work from an office, you will not normally be working from home.

What will you be doing?
This role is accountable to the Senior Business Support Officer overseeing the Northampton Community teams.
Your role as a Business Support Officer is to manage communication correspondence, such as being the first point of contact via telephone, receiving calls from vulnerable members of the community and their families. Supporting in meetings, assisting with processing purchase orders, maintaining spreadsheets, taking accurate minutes of meetings and anything else that may be required. You will need to maintain accurate records and provide proactive administrative support. Maximising productivity, minimising errors, and managing information securely using Office 365 and internal IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate records and databases to support case management.
• Provide confidential administrative support to the teams.
• Handle correspondence and telephone enquiries with professionalism.
• Arrange and minute inter-agency and departmental meetings.
• Assist in processing financial claims and payments in line with council guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.

- Experienced in administrative roles, ideally within a busy office environment.
A friendly and reliable demeanour is essential, as you will contribute to a positive working atmosphere and interact with many people, including internal and external colleagues and members of the public.
Attention to detail in producing clear, concise and accurate records is key. The ideal applicant will have experience in taking minutes and written case/care notes. Knowledge of our internal systems would be beneficial.
