The Oak Partnership Trust is seeking a dedicated and proactive Premises Manager to join our team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning school environment. As Premises Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school site. You will ensure the premises are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose for pupils, staff, and the wider community. Working closely with the Head Teacher and Trust Facilities Manager, you will oversee contractors, manage site operations, and lead on health & safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Site & Maintenance Management
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance of the school site, including planned and reactive works
- Coordinate and supervise contractors (cleaning, grounds, maintenance, waste, etc.)
- Carry out basic repairs, maintenance tasks, and small redecorations
- Ensure the site remains clean, safe, tidy, and hazard-free
- Act as key holder and respond to out-of-hours/emergency situations
- Maintain systems including heating, lighting, security, alarms, CCTV, and access systems
- Manage site inspections and proactively address defects
- Support safe access and movement around the school site
- Assist with furniture setup for school events and activities
- Manage school vehicles and site-related assets
- Health & Safety & Compliance
- Uphold and implement Trust Health & Safety policies
- Carry out regular compliance checks and inspections
- Maintain health & safety records, risk assessments, and compliance documentation
- Ensure adherence to regulations including COSHH, fire safety, asbestos, and legionella
- Support fire safety planning and emergency procedures
- Report and monitor health & safety issues with leadership teams
- Administration
- Manage maintenance schedules and budgets cost-effectively
- Liaise with the Trust Facilities and Finance teams on procurement and invoicing
- Maintain accurate records, stock, and asset registers
- Support lettings and extended services on site
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in site supervision, facilities, or building maintenance
- Has hands-on skills in general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or similar trades
- Has a strong understanding of health & safety regulations
- Is highly organised and able to prioritise workloads independently
- Has excellent communication
- Is proactive, flexible, and takes pride in maintaining a safe environment
- Is confident using IT systems (e.g., Word, Excel)
- Holds a full driving licence
- Is willing to undertake further training as required
Desirable
- Experience working in a school or education environment
- First aid or health & safety qualifications
Salary: Grade 13 point 6
Hours of work: 37 hours per week. Term time, Plus 4 weeks
Contract: Permanent
