West Midlands Referral are now hiring for a driven and experienced Patient Care Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. In this role you have the opportunity to utilise your skills in a clinical environment. The role of the patient care assistant (PCA) is critical in delivering quality patient care and an unrivalled client experience through teamwork, clear communication and utilisation of your knowledge and skills.

You will be a key member of the nursing team, working collaboratively with a variety of team members including veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, and members of the leadership team. You will work under the delegation of a Vet or Registered Veterinary Nurse to support patient care. You will embrace our culture, with a growth mindset, and have a passion for self-development to support yourself and others. This is a permanent full-time position; your weekly working hours will be 40h p/w. Weekly rota: 4 days working 8am-7pm with 1 day off in the week.

Main purpose & goals:
  • Deliver high-quality patient care, utilising your developing experience and skills.
  • Work within the Linnaeus ‘What can PCAs do in Veterinary Practice’ guidelines.
  • Work and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be reliable, adaptable, understanding, and empathetic.
  • Maintain accurate client and patient records.
  • Contribute to an outstanding client experience.
  • Always provide an efficient, courteous, and helpful service to all clients, suppliers, and external contacts.
  • Promote and lead a culture of respect, collaboration, and engagement in the practice team to support well-being, quality, and productivity.
  • Uphold and engage in Clinical Standards & Quality Improvement and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development (CPD).
  • Understand and adhere to practice and group policies and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the financial health of the business by understanding and controlling costs in the areas that PCAs can impact.
