West Midlands Police is actively recruiting Transferees to come and work in our state of the art force control room located at C3; Park Lane - Aston - Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for current Constables to transfer and join a high performing team who dispatch resources to Emergency and Priority calls for service across the West Midlands region from Wolverhampton to Coventry and Sutton Coldfield to Dudley. Our staff and officers serve a diverse population of approximately 3 million people and some of the most deprived areas in the region. We deal with more than 500,000 EM/PR (combined) graded incidents per year, that involve significant risk to our communities. Working in our Dispatch hub will give you the opportunity to safeguard the most vulnerable, deploy resources to critical and major incidents and contribute to the saving of lives in our communities. The role is based at our Command Centre in Aston, Birmingham and contains the following amenities:

Applications are welcomed from any Constable officers who want to join Dispatch, preferably from those with previous experience of Dispatching resources. However, training will be provided to bring officers up to speed.

Am I eligible?

  • You must be substantive OR be within the last 3 months of your probation period.
  • You must be transferring from a UK Home Office Police Force or BTP (or previously served as substantive in a UK Home Office Force).
  • Outstanding complaints or matters with PSD must be resolved before applying.
  • Please note, we will require evidence of your substantive rank. Therefore, please ensure you attach this as supporting evidence to your application.

Vetting:

Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical:

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully passing medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
