Please note: This is not an application to become a Police Officer. It is a Talent Management Scheme designed to gather more information about your experience to match your expertise with the applicable departments if you are successful in your Police Officer application.

If you\’re interested in becoming a Police Officer or applying for one of our Specialist Staff Officer roles and have served for 4 years or more, you can apply without a Level 3 qualification. We recognize that skills and experience gained from a military career can be highly valuable to West Midlands Police and the communities we serve.

Applicants with less than 4 years of service are encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Our organization has simplified the process for Military Service Leavers (including reservists) to join through the Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) initiative, which replaces the need for a Level 3 qualification. This considers your learning experiences and professional achievements outside formal education and traditional training.

Upon completing training, opportunities for promotion and specializations such as Firearms, Canine Units, Complex Investigation teams, or Roads Policing will be available. The possibilities are endless!

West Midlands Police also operates an ex-military Talent Management Programme to identify individuals with unique skills and abilities, both before joining and as a student officer, guiding them to key roles within our organization.

Please note that not all staff roles require Level 3 qualifications.
