Worcestershire Community Rail Partnership (WCRP) is a not-for-profit organisation that gives a voice to local people and strengthens community involvement in their railway. We promote rail as a sustainable, accessible, and healthy way to travel — seamlessly connected with other transport options — meeting the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors while helping create greener, more connected communities. We bring together diverse and inclusive communities, building confidence in using rail and public transport. Through attractive stations, engaging visitor experiences, and support for social enterprise, we help unlock the social, economic, and tourism potential of rail travel across Worcestershire.
Hosted by the West Midlands Rail Executive, we are part of a growing national movement using rail as a force for positive change in local communities.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about people, places, and the power of rail to bring them together. This is a brand-new role where you’ll help ensure the railway works for the communities it serves—making it more inclusive, more accessible, and more connected to everyday life. You’ll enjoy being out and about, engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds, and turning ideas into real, visible impact. From supporting grassroots projects to encouraging station adoption and promoting sustainable travel, you’ll be an advocate for the difference rail can make.
What you will be doing
- You’ll report to the Senior WCRP Officer, who will provide support and guidance while you deliver projects, events, and community activities across Worcestershire.
- Represent WCRP at events, meetings, and community activities.
- Engage children, young people, and communities to promote safe, inclusive rail travel.
- Support and help grow station adoption schemes.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects, events, and workshops.
- Help secure funding, prepare reports, and monitor project progress.
- Promote community rail through social media, newsletters, and communications.
- Advocate for rail’s social, economic, and tourism benefits in the local community.
What’s essential
- Hold a DBS or willing to be DBS vetted.
- Interest in or experience of public transport.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with people from all walks of life, in both small and large public settings.
- Be customer and results orientated, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative, and as part of a team.
- Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable/capable of travelling and lone working at times.
Location
This role is Worcestershire-based. Candidates will need access to a vehicle or have reliable transport links and be prepared to travel in line with project requirements.
