Do you want to make a real, lasting impact on communities and the environment in the West Midlands? Are you passionate about bringing people together to deliver meaningful change? WMCA is seeking a Community Environment Project Manager to lead and deliver ambitious programmes that improve air quality, protect natural spaces, build climate resilience, and promote sustainable living.

As part of the Environment Team, you'll be central to shaping and delivering our community-focused environmental projects. Your work will connect a wide range of stakeholders including local authorities, community networks, environmental organisations, and government agencies, ensuring WMCA's programmes meet the needs of communities across the region. You'll work strategically to identify opportunities for innovation, funding, and scale, while leading project delivery with real accountability for outcomes.

You'll be at the heart of projects that improve local air quality, protect green spaces, and strengthen communities against climate challenges. By bringing together stakeholders, coordinating initiatives, and driving programmes forward, your work will deliver tangible benefits that people can see and feel across the West Midlands. What you will be doing:

  • Lead the delivery of community environment programmes, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage communities, local authorities, and partner organisations across the region.
  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder workshops to share learning, identify strategic opportunities, and foster collaboration.
  • Manage consultants, contractors, and external partners to deliver programme milestones and outcomes.
  • Secure funding for community-facing projects and maximise value for money.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of projects, sharing lessons to inform future work.
  • Produce high-quality reports, briefing notes, and presentations for leadership teams, boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Represent WMCA at external forums, conferences, and meetings, advocating for community-led environmental initiatives.

What's Essential:

  • Proven experience in community engagement and environmental projects.
  • Strong project or programme management skills, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Track record in multi-stakeholder engagement and building effective partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and problem-solve effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Degree or relevant professional qualification, with Project Management accreditation (or willingness to undertake).
  • Commitment to creating a fairer, greener, healthier West Midlands.

Location: The location for this role is Summer Level with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
