Help shape a safer public transport network across the West Midlands.

We're looking for a proactive Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of our Transport Safety Officer (TSO) service.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to how safe passengers are, feel and remain when travelling across the region. You'll oversee the deployment and performance of Transport Safety Officers, using intelligence, data and insight to ensure our teams are in the right places at the right time to prevent and respond to crime and anti-social behaviour.

Working closely with our contracted security provider, transport operators, police forces, local authorities and community safety partners, you'll bring together intelligence and operational insight to develop effective patrol plans and ensure our resources are being used to maximum impact. You'll also play an important role in supporting the Safer Travel Plan, Violence Against Women and Girls initiatives and wider transport safety priorities, including work connected to the future of bus franchising.

This is a varied role combining operational leadership, data and intelligence, partnership working and continuous improvement. You'll be comfortable presenting information, managing supplier relationships and using evidence to influence where and how our resources are deployed.

What you will be doing

  • Develop plans informed by intelligence, operational data and performance information to support delivery of Network Resilience and Safer Travel objectives
  • Influence policy and legislative developments through engagement with transport industry partners and groups
  • Ensure all TSOs receive appropriate training, development and regular performance discussions
  • Support the Security and Policing Manager and deputise as required
  • Lead the monthly deployment planning process for Transport Safety Officers
  • Ensure patrol activity is focused on improving passenger safety and tackling anti-social behaviour across all transport modes and bus stations
  • Attend police and partnership briefings to exchange intelligence and support informed decision making
  • Lead performance monitoring and reporting
  • Act as the key liaison between the CCTV Control Room, RTCC and Safer Travel teams
  • Support compliance with BS7958 standards
  • Support planned and spontaneous emergency, event and traffic management operationsSupport budget monitoring associated with TSO operations and equipment

What's essential

  • Experience of developing and maintaining operational plans and strategies
  • Experience of working within a multi-agency partnership environment
  • Experience of performance monitoring, analysis and reporting
  • Experience of contract or supplier management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of operational policing and community safety partnerships
  • Ability to analyse data and produce performance reports
  • Ability to obtain and maintain NPPV Level 2 (Abbreviated) clearance

Location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
