Due to an internal promotion within the team, the West Midlands Combined Authority is looking for an ERP Systems Analyst to play a key role in supporting the implementation, operation and continuous improvement of our Business World Enterprise Resource Planning system. This is an exciting permanent opportunity to join the Finance and Financial Management team, helping ensure our ERP platform runs smoothly, securely and effectively across the organisation.
Working closely with Finance, HR, Procurement, Technology and Insight, Project Support Services and wider service teams, you will help identify and deliver system improvements that support efficient and effective service delivery. You will support configuration, testing, documentation, user training and incident resolution, while working with stakeholders to ensure colleagues are confident and consistent in their use of ERP systems.
We are looking for a proactive and analytical systems professional with strong ERP knowledge, ideally including Unit4 Business World/Agresso. You will be confident supporting change, improving processes, solving system issues and working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver reliable, user‑focused systems support.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the implementation and efficient running of the Business World ERP solution.
- Help maintain smooth system operation, integrity and security.
- Work with Finance, HR, Procurement, Technology and Insight, Project Support Services and wider teams to identify and implement system improvements.
- Support the installation and configuration of the ERP software‑as‑a‑service system.
- Lead assigned project activities in line with milestones, deadlines and agreed timescales.
- Provide progress updates to stakeholders and assurance that projects or change requests remain on track.
- Document end‑user and system team processes, creating clear user guides and procedural documentation.
- Deliver user training to ensure staff can use ERP systems effectively and consistently.
- Co‑ordinate monthly user acceptance testing for hotfixes and updates, taking remedial action where issues arise.
- Investigate and resolve system incidents, identifying root causes and practical solutions.
- Research best practice and implement improvements to keep WMCA practices aligned with market standards.
- Support process improvement, business process re‑engineering and system reconciliation activity.
- Represent WMCA professionally and work flexibly to meet the needs of the Finance function.
What's essential:
- A suitable level of experience in a similar function or systems‑focused role.
- Experience writing procedural documentation for application support, testing and training.
- Experience contributing to the leadership of change and supporting others to overcome difficulties.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Unit4 Business World/Agresso.
- Strong facilitation, analytical and design skills, with a problem‑solving approach.
- Ability to prioritise and organise support activity while delivering multiple tasks.
- Personable and confident, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Experience supporting system design, delivery, testing and training in system changes.
- Experience of business process improvement, system reconciliation or process re‑engineering would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of best practice Finance, Project and Procurement service delivery would be beneficial.
Location: The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
Salary and benefits: We advertise salary ranges, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate.
