Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services Person (B3) Cheshire

We are looking to build a reserve pool of applicants for B3 Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services Persons to join the well established team across our Cheshire PTS Contract. (Please state within your application which site(s) you wish to be considered for)
The main purpose of this role is to safely transport patients with varying mobilities to and from treatment centres or other venues as directed. This could include manual handling of patients, the care of patients and assisting patients, as well as driving. The administration of medical gases is included
Applicants must have a good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or the equivalent of) including English & Maths. About us
If this position involves a regulated activity it will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both
Where a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post, all applicants are required to cover the cost of the check.
The cost of an enhanced check is £55.76 and is payable to our online provider at the time that the DBS application is submitted. Upon receipt of your DBS you will then be required to sign up to the DBS online update service.

Job responsibilities
Carry out required vehicle and equipment checks.
Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure patients are moved in a timely, safe and dignified manner
Work within Contract Specific Quality Standards and ensure a high level of customer care (These standards vary from contract to contract and will be available at your base)
Ensure effective communication with the Control Centre, by telephone or electronic means
Transfer patients using equipment and skills specific to individual needs
Provide effective care to patients, appropriate to their requirements using available equipment.
Transport patients safely and considerately this will include pre-planned and ad-hoc journeys.
Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant traffic legislation and driving with consideration for other road users.
Maintain full and accurate records and reports, including Patient Transport Records, Accident Reports, and Incident Reports etc. These may be both paper and electronic.
Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept in states of cleanliness and readiness.
Undertake required training to maintain acceptable standards and quality of care.
Maintain a current valid driving licence.
Adhere to corporate Instructions and Policies, Operational Instructions, Clinical Protocols, Quality Procedures and other verbal or written instructions.
Perform other tasks in keeping with the post as required by supervisory staff and managers

Person Specification
Qualifications
- A good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or the equivalent of) including numeracy and literacy OR successfully completed the NEPTS Apprenticeship including numeracy and literacy / NVQ 2 Care qualification including numeracy and literacy
- Must be willing to undergo training necessary to fulfil the duties of the post
- Ability to manage own studying/training
Experience
- Extensive Patient Care experience
- Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
Qualification Certificates
- Able to provide certificates to evidence all qualifications listed within the application form. PLEASE NOTE THAT PROVISIONAL STATEMENTS OF RESULTS OR NON-CERTIFIED STATEMENT OF RESULTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to take clinical responsibility when necessary
- Ability to undertake manual handling of patients/equipment as required
- Organisational skills
- Ability to conduct rapid risk assessments when required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Full (manual) UK driving licence showing no more than 3 penalty points
