We are looking for a dedicated, highly motivated individual who can work as part of our existing Server and Storage team to support the whole organisation, including 2 Ambulance Emergency Operations Centres. The successful applicant must be able to take part in the Teams out of hours on call rota, which will attract an additional percentage (on call allowance) in addition to the band 7 salary & section 2 unsocial hours enhancements. Please note - a full UK driving licence is essential for this post.

Main duties of the job:

  • Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments (Windows Server 2019 and newer) on HPE and Dell Azure Local Hardware.
  • Deploy, support, and optimize cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups and restores, and security audits to maintain data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborate with other teams to design and implement scalable server solutions.

You should have in-depth experience of Active Directory, Entra ID, Office365, Hyper-V virtualisation, Clustering, Citrix and Dell and HP server hardware. You should also have knowledge of SQL, IIS, DNS, DHCP and a sound understanding of networking concepts.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the IT Infrastructure Manager and other team members in the delivery of Trust IT Server Policies and long-term IT Server Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain awareness of developing standards and innovations in the area of IT Server landscape.
  • Ensure services are supported to agreed hours of service to agreed service levels by participation within the on-call rota.
  • Act as an authority and provide specialist knowledge on IT cloud base server architecture for the Trust.
  • Conduct and analyse risk assessments as appropriate and advise the Trust on IT system errors or security concerns/breaches.
  • Provide guidance and advice as required or requested by other departments on the procurement of new solutions, systems or services.
  • Promote effective use of IT systems and services, developing IT server infrastructure awareness.
  • Participate in continued professional development, training and courses as identified.
  • Lead on investigating IT Server issues, liaising with other staff and departments or external/third parties as appropriate.

Person Specification:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft on premise and cloud-based server infrastructure Azure SaS and PaAS.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft cloud based single tenanted office 365 infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of networking principles underpinning Server infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats such as Ransomware & mitigation.
  • Experience of managing and delivering medium to large scale IT projects.

Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate Degree within an IT field or equivalent vocational qualifications or experience.
  • Recognized IT Server Qualifications (e.g. Microsoft, AWS).

Experience:

  • 5 years IT Experience.
  • 3 years experience in a senior IT role.
