36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, Fixed Term until 9 August 2026. West Lothian Council reserve the right to close this post early depending on applicant response levels. Monday- Friday working within a shift rota between the hours 7.45-6.15.

Parkhead Primary School ELC is seeking to appoint two nurturing and motivated practitioners for a secondment and a maternity leave cover. The successful candidate will have a positive approach to working with children by providing general support in relation to the child’s individual care, health and wellbeing and safety; to ensure a secure and safe learning environment.

The nursery is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours. The candidate should be solution focused with an understanding of supporting pupils within an educational setting and how to foster positive relationships. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will be required to work effectively as part of our ELC team to support the learning of the children. The successful candidate will bring a sound knowledge of early level play and development as well as a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences and interactions whilst effectively working as part of our nursery team to plan, evaluate and report on children’s progress. They will work in partnership with our parents and partners to ensure we are getting it right for all our learners.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
