As part of Cleaner Communities and reporting to the Senior Operative, you would work as part of a team to provide the frontline delivery of Street Cleaning duties throughout West Lothian.

To work as part of a team using specialist equipment when required to carry out deep cleansing incorporating all duties relating to the street cleansing of public spaces including roads, channels, pavements, shopping precincts, car parks, verges, public parks, open spaces, street furniture to a standard meeting the council's statutory and legislative obligation.

The possession of a driving licence (Mechanical sweeper operators must have vocational licence category C1 or LGV/HGV licence) is essential for this post.

The ability to operate pedestrian powered equipment and work in all weathers and in all conditions are essential.

Driver CPC and working knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act, and the Local Environmental Audit and Management System (LEAMS), Litter Management System (LMS) desirable.

Applicants must be able to work Monday to Sunday every fourth week.

  • Mon – Thurs: 7:00 – 14:30
  • Friday: 7:00 – 13:30
  • Saturday – Sunday: 7:00 – 11:00, every fourth week
