An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Structures Engineering team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.
You will be responsible for delivering works on the Council's road structure assets such as bridges and retaining walls. You will assist the Team Leader in managing the inspection and assessment regime, carrying out Technical Approval of new structures on public roads, managing Abnormal Indivisible Load movements and developing, assisting the delivery of a programme of capital and revenue works to ensure a safe and well-maintained road structures stock.
With a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience or registration with the Engineering Council at Incorporated Engineer Level, you will have knowledge and experience of road-related structures. You must have previous experience of delivering projects, including the ability to achieve project milestones and targets. You must be able to demonstrate proven experience of developing successful working relationships with contractors and professional service providers and ideally have some experience in contract management. Ideally, you will have demonstrable experience in asset management, as well as previous experience working in a local authority, however this is not essential.
You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities and achieving outcomes. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a working understanding and knowledge of relevant H&S legislation, codes of practice and initiatives.
With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages and AutoCAD software, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports.
You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Roads and Transportation, who currently operate a hybrid model of homeworking and office-based work within West Lothian. You will be required to travel throughout West Lothian to undertake the duties of this post, so a full driving licence is essential.
