The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 € per year.

36 hrs per week, 52.14 weeks per year. Applications for this post will only be accepted from current employees of West Lothian Council (this includes casual and agency staff who are currently undertaking work for us).

To manage the provision of catering services in schools, housing with care and adult day care. Ensuring compliance, standards, staff resource, health and safety, training and equipment are all in place to enable effective service delivery. The post is one of 4 in the structure with responsibility for units shared between each post holder.

Essential:

  • Relevant catering qualification 706/1-706/2 or SCOTVEC equivalent and REHIS Intermediate (The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland)
  • Experience as a unit supervisor.
  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of catering – food production and presentation, menu selection, portion control.
  • Knowledge of current Food Safety and general Health and Safety legislation and associated good working practice.
  • Understand the implications of the Food in Schools Act and how this applies to all aspects of the school setting.
  • Knowledge of software packages e.g. email, word, spreadsheets and the web.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of staff.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
