In partnership with sportscotland, West Lothian Council wish to appoint 2 x 26 Hour Trainee Assistant Active Schools & Community Sport Coordinators as part of the national summer investment into sport.
The Active Schools and Community Sport team aims to increase activity levels by building on summer provision to ensure there are more opportunities to participate in sport and more people delivering opportunities in schools and the wider community.
West Lothian Council are looking for dynamic individuals with excellent communication skills to work with individuals in schools and community sport settings who have the ability to maximise inclusive participation opportunities, across West Lothian.
The Trainee Assistant Active Schools & Community Sport Coordinator will:
- Learn how to support the planning and delivery of PE, physical activity and sport opportunities during curricular, extra-curricular time and holiday periods.
- Support opportunities for pupils to participate in sport in school, especially through targeted provision.
- Motivating and inspiring people to participate in sport.
- Support the development of sustainable infrastructures for the development of sport in the community.
Essential
- Educated or working towards a relevant discipline and/or relevant demonstrable experience.
- Experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity.
- Clearly demonstrate the ability to engage with key partners and maintain good working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative.
- Confident in using Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Enthusiastic and highly motivated with the ability to motivate others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with young people in a school environment.
- Clear understanding of the benefits that physical activity and sport can bring to all.
- Value and promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007.
