An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join our Support at Home Service. Support at home services are community-based, delivering support within people’s own homes across West Lothian.
As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting a dedicated team of Care Workers and service users. This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You should enjoy working with people, demonstrate empathy, and be committed to delivering high-quality care within the community.
Key responsibilities within the role are:
- Leading and supporting teams of care staff
- Conducting team meetings and staff supervisions
- Completing Personal Development Plans to ensure staff remain fit to practice
- Managing sickness absence and participating in disciplinary processes where required
- Engaging with people who are receiving the service
- Exercising initiative and sound decision-making within service policies, standards, and objectives
It is essential that candidates have the following:
- Experience supervising employees and managing competing service demands
- Strong communication skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Confident using a range of IT systems
- Full driving licence
If not already achieved, successful candidates must commit to completing SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), along with the PDA in Supervision. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
