This is a peripatetic support worker role, that will cover all 3 of West Lothian Council's day support services for adults with a Learning Disability: Eliburn, Community Inclusion Team and Pathways. The 3 Services support individuals through face-to-face contact to access a range of community-based meaningful activities meeting individual outcomes.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two successful applicants to join our staff teams on a permanent basis to develop and deliver a stimulating person-centred, outcome-focused service in line with West Lothian Council and Care Inspectorate guidance, policy & procedure, as well as National Strategies.
The role includes providing full hands-on care with support for personal care, physical and mobility management as well as supporting people to eat lunches/snacks and have drinks.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate practical skills, knowledge & understanding and ability to work flexibly between each service. Activities can involve working across a number of West Lothian community venues with the successful applicant being able to work with partner agencies, as well as sourcing and supporting suitable opportunities.
You must be able to meet the essential criteria and be able to communicate with service users, carers and professionals. You must be able to remain calm when working under pressure and be able to demonstrate good engagement skills with the people you will be working with as well as having excellent organisational skills.
It will be essential for applicants to have a full driving licence and have had a range of experience working with Adults with a Learning Disability, especially in care planning and positive risk taking. It would be desirable to have HNC Social Care and/or SVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

The posts will be 36 hours per week working Monday to Friday on a set shift pattern. Experience of working with groups and being creative in meeting individual requirements within these would also be of benefit within this role.
Duties of this post involve regulated work with protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update if already a member.
