An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit one full time Social Worker to the Justice Throughcare Team within West Lothian Council’s Justice Services. This dynamic team is responsible for the supervision of all individuals subject to post release supervision via Court Orders or Licences. This role will include attending prisons. The successful candidates will be expected to manage a diverse, complex and challenging caseload. While primarily based within the Throughcare Team, the successful candidates will however be expected to work across the wider Justice Services to meet the exigencies of the service.

Candidates must have the following skills and experience:

  • BA in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification is essential.
  • Good understanding of the challenges of the client group.
  • Must be prepared to work with violent and sexual offenders.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
