As a Social Care Support Worker, you will work as part of a team on a rota basis (including weekends). You will contribute to the care planning process for residents in consultation with other staff. To assist the Social Care Worker in the provision of direct personal care and support to meet the needs of older people within a care setting. The post holder will contribute to the care plans of individual residents by reporting any relevant information to the Social Care Worker.
The service provided will be compatible with the policies, procedures and standards in line with Council Policy. This will include some laundry and other personal care tasks relevant to the needs of residents.
It is desirable that you possess an SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, however you can be working towards this or be willing to work towards it. You should have experience of working with older people, preferably in a care home setting.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your registration.
