36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, Fixed term until 4th January 2027. West Lothian Council reserve the right to close this post early depending on applicant response levels.

St John Ogilvie Primary School and Woodlands Nursery School are based in the Deans area of Livingston. The school is seeking an enthusiastic pupil support worker to join the team in the nursery. The setting is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly on a rota across the opening hours.

The post holder will be a member of the nursery team within the setting supporting early learning and the Early Years Officer. The post holder will develop and promote high quality learning experiences for all children within the establishment. They will ensure the effective use of positive behaviour strategies for all children in partnership with staff, parents and other appropriate professionals.

Working hours will be allocated monthly and will include a mixture of early and late shifts following the pattern below:

  • Early: 07:45 - 16:15 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 12:00 Friday
  • Late: 09:45 - 18:15 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 12:00 Friday

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

The post-holder requires to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a support worker and work towards a relevant qualification within a five year period.
