Williamston Primary School is a large, two stream, non-denominational school serving the Murieston area of Livingston which is part of the James Young cluster. The school role for this session is currently 421 pupils, organised over 15 classes, with a further 74 children attending a variety of sessions in the nursery. Positive relationships and partnerships are important to us. The school benefits from a supportive and proactive Parent Council/PSA group who are enthusiastic, supportive and committed to improving the work and life of the school and ELC.

We are seeking an enthusiastic practitioner to join our ELC team supporting early learning and the Early Years Officer. The post holder will develop and promote high quality learning experiences for all children, and will ensure the effective use of positive behaviour strategies for all children in partnership with staff, parents and other professionals where appropriate.
The setting is open 50 weeks of the year and staff work on shift rotas across the opening hours. The post-holder must be educated to HNC/SVQ3 level in Early Education and Childcare or provide equivalent qualifications and be able to demonstrate breadth and depth of experience in an early year’s educational establishment.
The post-holder must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a practitioner and will be subject to Enhanced Disclosure check.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
