27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, Fixed Term until 10 August 2027.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Balbardie Primary School Enhanced Resource Base. The Advanced Pupil Support Staff within the Enhanced Resource Base will have the exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, specialist support to children with a wide range of complex additional support needs. The role involves working collaboratively as part of a nurturing, skilled team to deliver bespoke, child-centred support that enables learners to achieve their full potential and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

A strength of the school is strong partnerships working with partners including parents and the wider community, which is having a positive influence on the lives of children and their families. All children are nurtured and valued.

The Post Holders will work with and support pupils within the Enhanced Resource. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to support pupils in the following areas:

  • Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS)
  • Transitions within the school and the local community
  • Relationships with peers
  • Progress in learning
  • Relationships with staff

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
