East Calder Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the village of East Calder and the surrounding community. The school sits within the West Calder High School cluster. At present, the total school roll is 370 pupils including a nursery provision for up to 74 children in the morning/afternoon and full day sessions. The setting is open 50 weeks per year and staff work flexibly across the opening hours. There is a growing school role due to the number of new houses being built within the community.
The school works very closely with the West Calder High School cluster schools. There are well developed and mutually successful and supportive partnership links with local community groups and businesses. The school and ELC have earned a very good reputation within the community and are both very well supported by the parent council and the wider parent forum.
At East Calder Primary, you will become part of a hardworking and committed staff team. We are seeking an ELC Practitioner who will demonstrate commitment to our visions and values and is motivated to work as part of our team to support positive outcomes for all of our children, developing a high-quality learning environment which promotes challenge, curiosity and creativity.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
