Pinewood School is an Additional Support Needs school that provides children and young people who have additional learning needs an opportunity to access high quality learning and teaching. The curriculum is designed and adapted to meet the diverse needs of individual learners. The school is based in the village of Blackburn and has strong community links. The school has both a primary and a secondary department. During the session 2025/2026 the school roll will comprise of 160 pupils, Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, 3 Principal Teachers, 25 members of the teaching staff and a team of 74 pupil support workers.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
