Bathgate Academy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Principal Teacher Curriculum (Business, Computing & Physical Education). The successful candidate will support the school's vision and implement strategies to achieve this vision. This is a key post which comes at an exciting and challenging time for education in the school.

Bathgate Academy is a comprehensive non-denominational school and serves as a cluster of five primary schools. The school roll is currently 1215 and this is steadily rising due to housing developments within the area and an ever-increasing confidence from the community about the standard of education we provide.

Our motivated staff, students, parents, carers and the community we serve have worked hard to further improve all aspects of our school. Pupil Support comprises our house teams, our support for learning team and our Inclusion team. Our school really values inclusion, and we have a very diverse range of young people in our care. A number of them face significant learning barriers, and our staff teams work hard to help our students realise their ambitions. A range of Pupil Support Workers focus on aspects of attendance, motivation and well-being.

The successful candidate will have the necessary experience to assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence in order to support our young people and the improvement agenda of the faculty, school and authority.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
