36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, + 7.5% shift allowance
Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday, 07:30 - 15:00 and Friday, 07:30 - 14:30
Additional Requirement: One Saturday per month (second Saturday of each month), 07:30 - 14:30

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our NETs and Land Services team. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving public parks, open spaces, woodlands, sports pitches, landscaped areas, and other public environments to ensure they remain safe, clean, and attractive for residents and visitors. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will undertake a variety of grounds maintenance tasks using a range of tools, machinery, and equipment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Grass cutting and weed management
- Hedge trimming, shrub bed maintenance, planting and pruning
- Litter picking and leaf clearance
- Fly tipping and graffiti removal
- Installation and maintenance of street furniture, including benches and litter bins
- Sports pitch marking and maintenance
- Minor fence repairs and site maintenance works
- Filling grit bins and assisting with snow clearance operations
- Assisting with grave preparation works where required
- Routine maintenance, cleaning and daily safety checks of equipment and machinery
- Operating a range of powered tools and machinery, including tractor-mounted equipment where required
- Identifying and reporting issues affecting the appearance or safety of public areas
About You
To be successful in this role you should have:
Essential:
- Experience using powered tools such as strimmers, grass cutting equipment and hedge trimmers
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to operate small mechanical equipment
- Good understanding of safe working practices
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable:
- Full UK Driving Licence
- PA1 and PA6 certification for the application of herbicides
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or environmental services
