We are currently seeking to recruit an Assistant Unit Manager for Burngrange Care Home located in the heart of West Calder, close to local shops and public transport links.

This opportunity has become available due to the retirement of an existing long term Assistant Unit Manager.

Burngrange Care Home is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide accommodation and care for up to 40 older people, including people who have a history of enduring mental illness. The service is managed by West Lothian Council and has achieved Very Good rating at most recent inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

As assistant unit manager you would be responsible for supporting the manager in relation to day to day operation of the care home, ensuring a safe, supportive, and person-centred environment for individuals, visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee with the manager, the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care
  • Manage and support a team of care and support staff
  • Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate and legislative standards
  • Develop strong relationships with individuals, families, and external professionals
  • To support Manager in relation to plans for recruitment, staff training, and performance management
  • To participate and have a level of accountability for the management of budgets, resources, and occupancy levels

This post attracts a 14% shift allowance, a rota system is in place.

Previous experience in a management / care setting is essential as is SVQ Social Services and Health Care Level 4 + Management Qualification at 15 Credits or Equivalent.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
