West Calder High School is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic classroom teacher. The successful candidate will support the vision for the school and implement strategies to achieve this vision. This is a key post which comes at an exciting time for education.

West Calder High School is a six‑year non‑denominational comprehensive school offering our students a progressive, relevant, challenging and enjoyable curriculum with opportunities for personalisation and choice. Current roll is in the region of 1165 pupils.

The school building offers outstanding facilities including a theatre, swimming pool, dance studio and comprehensive music suite. The school has achieved Rights Respecting School Level 1 status, and has significantly increased the level of student involvement in the life of the school, promoting active citizenship through charity work and community engagement.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate. The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18.
