The Opportunity

At West London Waste Authority (WLWA) we aren't just managing waste disposal; we are transforming how our community across West London views resources. As our Social Value and Reuse Project Manager, you will be the bridge between our operational disposal systems and the local economy. You will support the design, launch and scale of initiatives that divert materials from landfills while creating tangible social, economic, and environmental benefits for our residents.

What You'll Do

  • Project manage and coordinate multiple complex waste and recycling projects to increase reuse rates across the household waste recycling centres we own, support and serve.
  • Assist the Head of Delivery and Transformation and the wider Development and Transformation team in forging long-term collaborations with charities, social enterprises, and local businesses to create sustainable secondary markets for reusable goods.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of reuse projects assigned to you from pilot programs to full-scale rollout, ensuring KPIs, such as diversion tonnage and social impact metrics, are met.
  • Champion the circular economy. You'll be the voice of our reuse agenda, working with internal and external stakeholders (primarily our 6 borough partners) and the public to shift behaviours towards conscious consumption.
  • Use robust data to quantify the 'Social Value' created, demonstrating the real-world impacts of your projects to the Authority and the public.

Who You Are

  • An impact-driven strategist: You understand that 'waste' is a design flaw. You are passionate about the circular economy and social sustainability.
  • A natural connector: You have proven track records of managing stakeholders across diverse sectors - you can speak the language of both high-level policy makers and grassroots community organisers.
  • An Operational Thinker: You don't just dream up ideas; you know how to build the logistical framework to make them work in a high-volume, regulated environment.
  • Resilient & Adaptable: You thrive in the fast-paced, often complex landscape of a public sector waste authority.

Why Join Us?

  • You will have a real impact from day one, and you will see your work in action every day. Your initiative will directly reduce waste and support the local community.
  • This is a growth-focused role where you have the autonomy to support and manage circular economy models.
  • You will be joining a team committed to a sustainable future, backed by a collaborative culture that values environmental stewardship and get to learn from a team with shared beliefs.
  • You will have access to a flexible working environment, hybrid working, the Local Government Pension Scheme, 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, and ongoing personal development.
