At West London Waste Authority (WLWA) we aren't just managing waste disposal; we are transforming how our community across West London views resources. We are seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to join our team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. In this role, you will lead high-impact waste development and circular economy initiatives across a diverse partnership of six London boroughs. You will manage a delegated budget and oversee complex multi-stakeholder projects that directly shape the future of waste collection services and regional sustainability. What You'll Do
- Project manage and coordinate multiple complex waste and recycling initiatives, ensuring they align with our business plan and the waste agendas for our borough partners.
- Assist the Head of Municipal Waste Development and the wider Development and Transformation team in forging long-term collaborations with our six borough partners, acting as a trusted programme lead and advisor.
- Support and steer the development of innovative collection service initiatives and pilots, ensuring operational efficiency and alignment with best practices.
- Maintain full responsibility for the delegated project/programme budget and provide robust oversight for project-related contracts.
- Offer expert advice to both internal and external stakeholders, helping to navigate technical challenges and policy requirements.
- Provide direct line management to a Project Manager and offer project oversight/guidance to our Data Team, ensuring data-driven decision making across all workstreams.
Who You Are
- You have a proven track record in project and programme management; ideally within waste management, local government and infrastructure development.
- A natural connector: You have proven track records of managing stakeholders across diverse sectors- you can speak the language of both high-level policy makers and grassroots community organisers.
- You have experience in service transformation and a deep understanding of circular economy principles.
- You are comfortable with delegated budget responsibility and have experience managing third-party contracts.
- You are a supportive leader who enjoys developing direct reports and collaborating cross-functionally with technical teams (such as data or developers).
- You thrive in an advisory capacity, providing clear direction and solving problems in real-time to keep initiatives on track.
