An opportunity has arisen for a band 8a MSK Clinical Services Manager to lead the Hounslow MSK Services on a 12-month maternity cover secondment starting in April 2025. Hounslow MSK Clinical Services are made up of a large MSK Physiotherapy service, an MSK Triage interface service, hand therapy service, specialist pain management service and FCP Physiotherapy service. The role will involve some clinical work as an advanced practitioner in the MSK Triage interface service. You should be a highly specialised, enthusiastic musculoskeletal physiotherapist who currently works at advanced practice level, or someone who is ready to take that next career step in joining an established supportive team that also consists of a Consultant MSK Physiotherapist.
Main duties of the job:
- To be accountable for the delivery of the MSK services to meet the commissioners service specifications, quality standards, activity targets and clinical outcomes.
- To provide line management and clinical leadership for the MSK services clinicians; being accountable for the delivery of efficient and effective services which are consistent with policies, procedures and good practice whilst fostering, developing and delegating ownership and autonomy of local service pathways to the clinicians and administrative support staff.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualification or equivalent level of study at Masters level or above
- Current registration as AHP
Knowledge and Experience:
- Post graduate knowledge in a related specialist area gained through study days, short courses and experience
- Understanding of current legislation and professional body standards (NMC/HCPC) and their implementation in practice
- Understanding Health and safety and personal safety issues
- Good financial awareness and resource control to operate within budget
- Leading, managing and motivating staff including performance management and staff development to deliver high quality results
- Working at an advanced practice level in MSK Specialty
- Understanding of current and emerging health and social care policy and strategies
- Risk assessment and management and identifying and managing risk
- Managing successful change programmes, working across clinical service areas to improve and develop service delivery
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to resolve complex clinical issues
- Ability to build the teams to a high-performance level, conducive to professional development and team cohesiveness
- Ability to have difficult conversations with staff in line with HR policies
- Ability to work within set timeframes working to priorities and deadlines
- Effective leadership skills and ability to delegate tasks to appropriately trained staff
