We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced nurse, passionate about working in an acute inpatient mental health service. You must be flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of our services. The role requires teamwork and a degree of autonomous working. The inpatient unit is a dynamic, caring and compassionate environment. The team is highly motivated, focused and hardworking, with a strong commitment to delivering high quality patient care. The therapeutic environment offers a broad range of interventions, working collaboratively with patients to deliver excellent service.
The ward team is a multidisciplinary mental health team that aims to provide a safe and effective clinical assessment and treatment service for patients requiring acute mental health treatment in hospital, under either a standard admission or a Section of the Mental Health Act. The unit is situated at the Mental Health Unit, Claybrook Road, Hammersmith.
Qualifications
- Professional nursing registration.
- Experience working within mental health services.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and multi‑agency frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Receive a full induction and proactive, regular supervision.
- Provide ongoing access to training and support.
- Work closely with the Ward Manager as a clinical team leader to deliver safe, effective, high‑quality care for adult patients with mental health needs.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality and effective nursing care to service users receiving inpatient and/or community services within the service area.
- Provide care, support and assessments of all clients referred to or entering the ward.
- Give clinical supervision to qualified staff and support the ward manager with management responsibilities.
- Complete assessments of patients, provide feedback to the MDT on patient progress, and make recommendations for further interventions.
- Accept section paperwork from police/AMHP and ensure all information is accurate.
- Provide nursing care including physical assessments and interventions, mental health assessments and interventions, risk assessments and appropriate management plans for any identified risks.
- Gather collateral information on clients from GP, community teams, liaise with other trusts (SPA/CATT), family and friends where possible.
- Complete all necessary documentation on the patient’s progress and plans for care, including risk assessments, care plans and other assessment documentation.
