Band 3 Community Respiratory Rehabilitation Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for experienced Respiratory Assistant / Admin to join the Home Oxygen Service – Assessment Review (HOSAR) team in the day to day running of the service.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to be a part of nurses and physiotherapist providing excellent care for patients with complex health problems receiving oxygen therapy as part of their care.

You will be part of a supportive, forward thinking service line and will help us make a difference at West London NHS Trust whilst being supported with acquiring new Respiratory Skills.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working closely with a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist and Respiratory CNS to provide on-going support to help patients maximize their independence, to inform patients about their treatment plans, and to link in with GPs, other stake holders and other services as required.

You will oversee day-to-day management of the team\’s calendar as well as have clinical day(s) visiting patients in their own home for education on how to manage their environment and carry out fire risk assessment.

This is a fulfilling role as it gives you an opportunity to have a therapeutic relationship with patients that you otherwise will only deal with over the phone

Education

  • Numeracy and Literacy skills required to keep accurate records. NVQ L3 or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience working in NHS setting.
  • Experience of purchasing systems
  • Taking observational readings such as: Sp02, HR, BP, Temperature
  • MS Office, Excel Sheet, Word, SystmOne
  • Basic knowledge in the use of respiratory equipment used in the community

Knowledge

  • Supported others in collating data for service development and audit
  • Able to maintain electronic patient records
  • Use Microsoft Word to draft letters and reports
  • SystmOne Auditing Skills

Skills

  • Clean Driving License
  • Car/driver with vehicle available for work purposes

  • Able to maintain accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronic and handwritten which adhere to the West London NHS trust policies.
