We are seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive RTS Team Leader to join our Health & Fitness Department at Broadmoor Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead the daily operations of our patients' fitness suite and associated facilities within a high secure inpatient environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with patients who present with complex mental health needs.
Our facilities include a state-of-the-art fitness suite, fitness studio, and an outdoor multi-use games area supporting activities such as football, tennis, and volleyball, as well as 11 smaller onward gyms.
As Team Leader, you will ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the service, addressing operational challenges as they arise and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service delivery. You will work as part of the wider Rehabilitation Therapy Services team to support patients in their recovery through meaningful, therapeutic physical activity in a group or 1-1 setting. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by leading a dedicated and skilled team within a dynamic, supportive, and rewarding environment.
You must have experience in team leadership within a therapeutic, rehabilitation, or fitness environment. Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of staff in the identified RTS area. They will be responsible for ensuring that staff complete the daily, weekly and quarterly environmental checks and all safety and security procedures are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and taking responsibility for the direct supervision of up to 3 band 5 staff.
- Managing annual leave, sickness and Personal Development Reviews (PDR's) for the staff in your areas of responsibility.
- Ensuring that staff you manage enter accurate and professional notes in patients' RiO record and that the entries are validated in an acceptable time scale.
- Ensuring that 100% patient update reports are completed in a comprehensive and meaningful format and patients' achievements and challenges are recorded professionally (CPA reports and LATCH update reports etc.).
- Being a resource for the team and actively engaging in a minimum of 50% of patient sessions.
- Actively developing and implementing service improvements by leading service audits and evaluations of the area with which they have responsibility.
- Ensuring that the service for which the post holder is responsible provides meaningful therapeutic activity to patients in admissions, high dependency and assertive rehabilitation wards.
