We are a small but growing company which services private gardens in West and South West London. We take great pride in delivering an excellent customer experience. From friendly communications to punctual arrival and meticulous work, our goal is to ensure customers are always happy before we leave. Everyday is something different with new challenges and surroundings.
We are looking for a Lead Gardener who is part of our core team to manage the day to day running of all aspects of the gardening, working in a team of two.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements
- Ensuring the successful completion of jobs, within agreed timescales and quality standards
- Setting an example for colleagues of commitment, work ethic and habits and personal character
- Adhering to all organisation policies and procedures
- Day to day care and maintenance of customers’ gardens, including grass cutting, planting, weeding, formative pruning and management of a wide range of landscape types
- Selecting the correct equipment for the day
- Driving to and from jobs (vehicle not required)
- Meeting/greeting new and existing customers
- Providing knowledge input and advice relating to all aspects of the garden
- Bi-weekly disposal of green waste
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the company and/or our customers
- Contributing towards the smooth running of the team
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety
Required Skills/Experience:
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
- Requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade
- Practical knowledge of plants plus experience and using general garden machinery
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic health and safety
- A full clean driving licence
- Fluent English speaker

- Must be physically fit as the job, by nature, is very physical
- Must be friendly and outgoing, confident to meet new people with excellent interpersonal skills
- Must be punctual, organised and respectful and able to work effectively under time pressure
- Must have high working standards
- Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions (clothing provided)
- Must have a high level of integrity and honesty in all dealings
Working Hours:
The hours of work are 08:30 - 04:30, Monday to Friday.
The Role:
Based in Chiswick, the role is initially offered as a permanent self-employed contractor position with the option to move to PAYE after the first 6 months. Date rate is £200- £220 per day depending on experience. As the company grows there will be ample opportunity to develop into a Head Gardener role, managing and building teams as well as overseeing all soft and hard landscaping projects.
