We are searching for the best education professionals to join our team as a Motor Vehicle Lecturer at Southall Community College – Construction and Motor Vehicle.

Location: London, Greater London

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 36 hours per week

Salary: £38,985.65 - £48,369.25 per annum

About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Lecturer – Motor Vehicle to join our Construction and Motor Vehicle department. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes, supporting learners to achieve their full potential. The role involves classroom and workshop-based delivery, learner support, assessment, and contribution to curriculum development, ensuring provision remains industry-relevant and aligned with awarding body requirements.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching, training and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes.
  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work and high-quality teaching materials in line with College and awarding body requirements.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, providing academic and pastoral support and delivering the College tutorial programme.
  • Monitor learner attendance, progress, behaviour and achievement, taking appropriate action where required.
  • Integrate English and Maths into vocational teaching and support delivery of GCSE and/or Functional Skills where required.
  • Act as an internal assessor and internal verifier as required.
  • Contribute to learner recruitment activities, including open evenings, interviews and course promotion.
  • Support work experience, industry engagement activities, external visits and employer partnerships.
  • Promote high standards of health & safety, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Contribute to quality improvement processes including self-assessment, course review and evaluation.
  • Maintain up-to-date vocational knowledge and meet minimum occupational competence requirements.

Programme Leader responsibilities (where applicable):

  • Lead curriculum planning and programme delivery to meet learner and local skills needs.
  • Coordinate delivery teams and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements.
  • Monitor learner progress, behaviour and outcomes, including English, Maths and work experience.
  • Lead internal verification and liaise with awarding bodies and validating institutions.
