Your Role!
We are seeking a Finance, Revenues and Payments Technical Officer to join our Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Council's financial operations and ensuring the effective administration of creditor, debtor and cash receipting functions.
You will be responsible for processing and monitoring a range of financial transactions, including supplier invoices, payment runs, sundry debtor accounts, invoicing, debt recovery activities and cash reconciliations. The role also involves responding to customer and supplier queries, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance requirements including VAT and CIS regulations, and assisting with financial reporting and year-end processes.
Working closely with colleagues across the Council, you will help deliver a high-quality finance service, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and excellent customer service at all times.
About You!
You will have excellent numerical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for someone who has:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent), AAT Level 2, or relevant comparable work experience.
- Experience of working within a finance, revenue, debtor, creditor or accounts environment.
- Experience of debt recovery processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- A positive, adaptable and customer-focused approach.
- Experience of dealing with members of the public and working to performance-related deadlines would be advantageous.
