At StrategyStory, we believe in the power of story to drive meaningful action and results. We work with organisations locally, nationally and internationally who have big ambitions while navigating complex change. This year we celebrate our 9th birthday. Our work includes leadership communication programmes, engagement initiatives and creative storytelling content for strategic marketing and communications. We believe strategy only works when it feels human.
We’re looking for a part‑time Story & Content Assistant – someone curious, energetic, organised and creatively sharp – to help capture conversations, identify themes and turn raw ideas into compelling content across audio, video and digital platforms. If you love listening closely, finding the thread in a conversation and shaping it into something clear and powerful, this role is for you.
This role suits someone with a journalism, media or communications background, or someone with a strong story instinct and editing ability.
The Role
This is a hands‑on, creative support role. Working to StrategyStory’s strategic goals, you will create and edit dynamic audio, video and print content, supporting client delivery and StrategyStory’s own communications. The role comes at an exciting stage of growth. Activities may include:
- Filming, video production, podcast and audio creation, newsletter campaigns, promotional material, and supporting events, training and workshops.
Key responsibilities include:
- Capture engaging interviews, drawing out powerful insights and shaping them into compelling stories across digital, print, audio and video.
- Transform conversations, talks and workshops into high‑quality short‑form content, including social clips and reels.
- Edit audio and video to create polished, story‑led pieces.
- Film content using smartphone and camera equipment, capturing moments that matter.
- Develop blog articles and written content that distil complex ideas clearly.
- Produce and support audio content, including podcast‑style formats.
- Create engaging content for social media, training and digital platforms.
- Support live events, workshops and training sessions by capturing and shaping content in real time.
- Collaborate with StrategyStory Collective – designers, filmmakers, photographers and producers – to bring ideas to life.
- Maintain a well‑organised content pipeline, ensuring ideas move smoothly from capture to publication.
The person we’re looking for…
If the following qualities and skills tell your story then this could be the role for you:
- A passion for storytelling!
- A strong writer and summariser.
- Great communicator and team player.
- Curious about ideas, leadership and communication.
- Able to spot patterns and themes.
- Confident with interviewing and filming and basic audio or video editing.
- Organised and reliable.
- Interested in how strategic storytelling drives action and shapes culture.
- Understand that when it comes to great storytelling, it’s all about detail.
- Our values of Ambition, Purpose, Focus, Action and Belonging mean something to you.
Hours and Salary
This role is part‑time, with potential to expand as StrategyStory continues to grow.
- Hours: 3 days per week, working pattern to be agreed.
- Salary: £25,500–£26,500 FTE (pro‑ratio), depending on experience.
- Duration: 6 months.
- Hybrid working model, office base Inverness.
What you’ll gain
- Direct exposure to leadership conversations and strategic thinking.
- Mentored development in strategic storytelling.
- Portfolio‑building content across audio, video and digital.
- Access to StrategyStory’s wider creative network.
