Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with epilepsy?
We are looking for a knowledgeable, proactive and dedicated Band 7 – Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to join our team and drive forward our high quality, person-centred care. In this rewarding role you will provide expert clinical support, education and guidance to children, young people and families, working to improve quality of life, promote self-management and reduce emergency hospital admissions.
You will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, supporting both hospital and community settings. We are seeking individuals who are proactive, use initiative, are compassionate, and committed to provide the best high-quality specialist care for children and young people with epilepsy/ neurology.
The post holder will be expected to act as a practice leader, managing own workload and work across professional, organisational, agency and system boundaries to develop services for children and young people with epilepsy.
To participate and contribute to networks, locally, regionally and nationally. The post holder will promote and facilitate excellent standards of care and contribute to the future development of the Paediatric epilepsy/ neurology services within the trust.
The role will critically appraise evidenced based practice and apply the principles of prudent healthcare, assessing and managing risk and proactively challenge others.
The post holder will act as the key liaise with transition services, adult health care teams., lead consultant, consultant physicians, outpatient nursing team, senior nurses and nursing teams across paediatrics and adult services in relation to epilepsy/ neurological care.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
