We are recruiting for a part time (18.75 hours a week) Bone Densitometry (DEXA) Scanning Technician. This role is to provide specialised technical support in Bone Densitometry, involving a broad range of highly complex specialised technical work. The post holder will act as an operator for scanning under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.

The service core hours run between 08:30-20:00; this part-time post will support our morning clinics. Please, get in touch with any questions about the working patterns or options for flexibility.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing Bone Density scans and procedures according to the relevant departmental protocols; this includes acquisition, analysis and presentation of Dexa images.
  • Learning to use specialised software, including application software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and utility software (e.g. Radiology).
  • Providing an efficient patient-focused service and ensuring a close and good working relationship with relevant team members and other hospital staff.
  • Obtaining optimum information from each individual patient investigation to facilitate speedy and accurate diagnosis of their clinical condition.
  • Actively participating in the continual development of all aspects of the Bone Densitometry Service in liaison with the Dexa Lead and the Assistant Divisional Manager.
  • Maintaining high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety.

The ability to commute to St Albans City Hospital and access to appropriate means of transport is essential.
