West Ham United Foundation is seeking an inspiring, committed, and community-driven Community Hub Officer to join our Education & Life Skills team. Based at Jo Richardson Community School, this role plays a pivotal part in empowering young people, helping them overcome challenges, and positively shaping their futures through tailored mentoring, education, and wellbeing interventions.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sport, education, and social change — harnessing the power and reach of a Premier League football club to transform lives.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and deliver a bespoke mentoring and intervention programme within Jo Richardson Community School.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with students aged 11–16, fostering positive engagement with school and learning.
- Deliver targeted 1:1, group and whole-class sessions focused on behaviour, resilience, wellbeing, and personal development.
- Act as a key point of contact for students with behavioural challenges or complex personal circumstances.
- Work closely with school staff, families, and external partners to support a whole-system approach to student development.
- Facilitate restorative practice sessions between students and between students and staff.
- Lead and contribute to Student Support Panels, behaviour reviews, and transition planning.
- Support delivery of West Ham United Foundation’s outreach and enrichment programmes during school holidays.
- Evaluate the impact of all interventions using the Foundation’s monitoring systems (e.g. Salesforce CRM).
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, health & safety, and professional conduct in all work.
- Degree-level qualification or Level 2+ Youth Work qualification.
- Minimum Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification.
- Proven experience mentoring young people in secondary school settings.
- Experience delivering educational workshops and youth engagement sessions.
- Strong understanding of barriers faced by young people in diverse, urban communities.
- Track record of working with young people who demonstrate challenging behaviour.
- Familiarity with safeguarding procedures in an educational or youth work environment.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Mentoring qualification (L2 or above).
- Experience in both education and community-based settings.
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce).
- Ability to build trust and meaningful relationships with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Confident delivering a variety of educational formats – from 1:1 sessions to full-class workshops.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
